Food & Wine Magazine's "Mouthing Off" blog tells how Vande Rose Farms Artisan Dry Cured Applewood Smoked bacon earned praises during a 40-bacon taste-off by three of New York City's top restaurateurs and chefs. Editor Kate Krader says she joined Gramercy Tavern's Danny Meyer, Momofuku Noodle Bar and Ssam Bar chef David Chang , and Meyer's Hudson Yards' Angela Hwang during a two-hour tasting for The Grateful Palate's Field Guide to Bacon.
The tasting took place at Ssam Bar and the Ssam chefs cooked up and kept track of which bacon came from which producer. Although They mistakenly labelled the Artisan Dry Cured Applewood Smoked bacon "Hickory Smoked bacon", Chang called the Vande Rose Farms bacon "One of the best bacons ever," and Meyer gave it 4 oinks (the highest rating).
